Independent Living Resource Centers
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

The Independent Living Resource Center, Inc (ILRC) believes in a world where equal opportunities and equitable outcomes exist for all. ILRC understands that an organization diverse in background, disabilities, culture, and lived experience is necessary to further our mission of promoting independent living and full access for individuals with disabilities through advocacy, education, and action. Through our deliberate, collective systems change efforts, ILRC provides a basis for social justice.

As an organization, we value diverse opinions, and the ability to learn from those with different perspectives is essential to our core values. Our board and staff reflect diversity in socioeconomic status, race/ethnicities, ages, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, physical and cognitive qualities, nationalities, religious and nonreligious backgrounds, political beliefs, and work experiences. We abide by core values that affirm the dignity of all persons and implement practices that increase knowledge and understanding.

As an Independent Living Center, we are committed to working with all disability groups to amplify their voices and ensure representation.

At ILRC, we pledge to:

  1. Developing and support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.
  2. Affirm the dignity of every person and the visible and invisible qualities that make them who they are.
  3. Take a holistic approach in all that we do.
  4. Confront and condemn bigotry, harassment, and discrimination.
