"Thank you for contacting the National Center on Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities (NCEPPD). We wanted to let you know that we have received a great number of requests for information and are responding as quickly as we can. It is our goal to give each request personal attention. In order to meet your needs as quickly as possible, we would like you invite you to view our Website to identify your specific area of interest. Visit our site at www.disabilitypreparedness.org to see if the resources you are looking for can be found there.
We have posted on our Website information regarding the Emergency Preparedness Training Kits (PPDET). The Kits consist of a series of training options for emergency planners as they attempt to address the needs of people with disabilities in the event of emergencies. These options are provided as a guide to the types of training that is available, but can be customized to meet the needs of individual organizations.
Our Website also features resources focusing on supporting the special needs of vulnerable populations in disasters. These resources include:
* Training -- highlighting the NCEPPD training kit as well as, training offered by other state and local agencies. * Products -- offering information on procuring audio and visual aids from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Red Cross. * Articles - providing links to articles dealing with Emergency Planning for People with Disabilities and other Special Needs and Coping with the Aftermath. * Websites - linking you with others sources such as the Community Preparedness Website Project, the Emergency Preparedness Information Exchange and the National Organization for the Disabled.
These publications and sites are provided for your assistance, and if we have left out others please let us know.
We look forward to continual communications with you as we share in the development of new and better emergency preparedness resources. "
